But, the dish came in India from Maharashtrians and Gujarati’s and the dish is known as pohe in Maharastra and poha in Gujrat and the dish is prepared all over in India with the same cooking style and with common ingredients like onion, potato, green chilies, peanuts,poha, coriander leaves, this ingredients are common across India.

Poha – when I was growing up poha is one of my favorite dishes from breakefast and my mom cooked this for me very often in our house and it is a breakfast dish so it is cooked in the morning or in the evening served with tea the most popular way in India to serve poha.
It is a very light dish as well so you will not feel like your stomach is bloating or something so anyone can cook, eat and run to his/her office or school
From school what I remember is that in our lunch box we took poha repeatedly and the reason is that it is a filling and nutritious breakefast which gets done in no time.
How Poha it-self is Made
Poha is flattened rice flakes so the process to make that flattened rice is first we have to cook the rice little bit and then the rice is beaten so it takes flattened shape then you have to dry it. As a result, we got our flattened rice which we will now use to cook many dishes.
Types of poha
There are three types of poha
#1 – Red poha which is made from red rice.
#2 – Fine poha which is used in dry recipes like chevda and also known as chevda.
#3 – Normal poha which is thicker than the fine one so it is used in every dish that can be cooked. (This kind of flattened rice flakes are used in cooking dishes)
Tips to cook poha recipe for newbie’s
#1 – From the above from types of poha now you have the knowledge of which kind of poha is required for this recipe in simple words you can ask in the shop for medium to thick poha and if you choose the thin version of poha then if you rinse that thin poha will turn into mushy.
if you are new to this dish you can take a small quantity of poha and experiment it with rinsing it. then you will be able to rinse the poha.
#2 – How to rinse poha – Do not over rinse the poha or over soak it just take raw poha’s in a bowl and pour water into it and count for 5-6 seconds and your poha is done, and drain the water properly and keep it aside you can add some sugar to this soaked poha for better balance for taste.
and now chop the veggies and check the poha is it soft or not.
#3 – Veggies – Main and common ingredients are – cumin seeds, onion, potato, green chilli, curry leaves, peanut, coriander leaves, lemon juice, and some extra veggies that you can add are cauliflower, capsicum, and carrots.
#4 – Garnish with some raw chopped onions, sev, coriander leaves will do your job done.
#5 Taste – savoury

# STEP 1 – Take 2 cups of poha and wash it or soak it to make it soft.
# STEP 2 – Roast or fry peanuts I like to fry peanuts in oil.
# STEP 3 – Heat up oil and add cumin seeds, green chillies, curry leaves, onions, potatoes, peas saute it well
# STEP 4 – ADD turmeric powder, salt and then add poha mix it well so poha can take the colour of turmeric finish it with lemon juice and garnish it with coriander leave and serve it with sev and tea.
# Step 5 – At last you can add a little bit of sugar to balance the taste of lemon and salt

- 1/4 tbsp mustard seeds
